Leavenworth Washington was featured in USA Today's December 18 article Celebrate Christmas year-round in these towns by Eric Grossman, Special for USA Today!
Here's what he said about our town: "Drive a little more than two hours east of Seattle and you might think you've teleported to Germany. This cozy, Bavarian-themed town is filled with German-style homes, shops, restaurants and hotels. The idyllic town center is an attraction in and of itself, and Leavenworth's annual calendar is dotted with lively festivals. Every December, visitors enjoy live entertainment, holiday sweets, and roasted chestnuts. More than half a million lights illuminate the town from October through February. Stores like Kris Kringl sell Christmas items year-round, as does the Nutcracker Museum and Nusskracker Haus, which offers one of the largest varieties of nutcrackers in the world."
